Through a grant sponsored by Roche Pharmaceuticals, SC Liver Research Consortium authored a 6-monograph series on hepatitis C in 2004-05. You may click on the monographs below to read them. Each of the 6 monographs were mailed to 5,000 hepatologists/gastroenterologists for a total of 30,000 monographs and they included a CD with an accompanying slide set. CME credit was offered and a majority of the doctors are taking advantage of this opportunity.
You may earn CME credit by downloading and reading the monograph, completing the test and faxing it back to 858-587-4456 by October 2005.

Press release submitted to CenterWatch 7-31-02
"Ortho Biotech completed enrollment of their hepatitis C trial PR00-30-019 on Friday, July 12th. They used 15 sites from SC Liver Research Consortium and 11 non-SCLRC sites. SCLRC sites enrolled their target of 131 patients out of a total of 187 randomized (70% of the total). This gave SCLRC an enrollment rate that was 70% greater than non-SCLRC sites (8.73 patients per site vs. 5.09 patients per site). All 15 SCLRC sites (except 1) randomized at least one patient, and 4 sites randomized 20 or more."

CenterWatch Press Release March 4, 2002
"SC Liver Research Consortium annunced that it has signed contracts with 7 sponsors in the last quarter of 2001. Those sponsors include Achillion Pharmaceuticals, BioMedicines, Gen-Probe, Intermune, Ortho Biotech Products, Ribozyme Pharmaceuticals, SciClone Pharmaceuticals and Triangle Pharmaceuticals. They all initiated clinical trials using Consortium sites. In the first quarter of 2002, SC Liver Research Consortium said it has signed new contracts for additional studies involving SciClone Pharmaceuticals and Triangle Pharmaceuticals."
Quote from Dr. Pockros in January 2002 Newsflash
"We currently have 15 ongoing clincial trials in which the consortium is acting as the contracting entity. Of these, 7 are actively enrolling patients at a number of sites throughout the country.... We have successfully completed 8 other trials for a number of sponsors. The clinical trial reports were submitted and data presentations at major meetings have resulted from 4 of these trials. Beyond these 23 active or completed studies, we are currently working with sponsors in formulating plans, and protocol design for 4 new additional trials. This successful contract growth validates the model we created in liver disease. It is important to note that SCLRC sites are participating in the majority of clincial research studies developing new chemical entities for liver disease in the United States."
