END STAGE LIVER DISEASE
Training Program and Treatment Update 2011

ATTENDEES: gastroenterologists, hepatologists, oncologists, transplant physicians, infectious disease specialists and their mid-level providers.
This year SC Liver Research Consortium in collaboration with Scripps Clinic is excited to host the End Stage Liver Disease (ESLD) training program. These half day conferences will be offered in San Diego, New York and Los Angeles, on Saturday's, at a convenient hotel venue. Each training session will be led by 2-3 physician thought leaders and experts in the field of gastroenterology and liver disease. A midlevel provider (i.e. nurse practitioner, nurse, physician assistant, etc.) will also actively contribute their point of view and practical experiences throughout; ensuring a more comprehensive and practical overview of treatment. Faculty is local with knowledge of the specific market conditions, population and challenges.

This cutting edge, half-day course will focus on the diagnosis and management of common complications seen in patients with ESLD. After attending this educational program, the attendee will be able to recognize the treatable complications quickly and use the latest therapies in a reasonable fashion. Learning will concentrate on the areas which are evidence-based or literature-based; including portosystemic encephalopathy, hyponatremia, hepatocellular carcinoma, hepatorenal syndrome and bleeding due to portal hypertension.

The course curriculum is designed as an interactive session providing 4.25 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit(s)™ per session to the attendee. Content is presented in a small group environment to include informational lectures, interactive and practical case studies, group discussion, with question and answer opportunities throughout. The class style will be structured, but sufficiently informal to promote questions and interaction. A syllabus is also provided to each attendee as a resource for future reference.
